Evelyn Antonelli, 89, of Huron, Died unexpectedly Sunday, June 29th, 2008, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 11, 1918, in Modesto, Calif., and was a resident of
Huron for the past 63 years. She worked for Consolo's Super Market,
Huron, Marconi's Restaurant, and the Twine House for many years. She
was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron, and enjoyed dancing.
She was an avid bowler and was a member of the Women's Bowling
Association, Sandusky, and was inducted into the Women's International
Bowling Congress Hall of Fame.

Joan R. (Wesler) Matter, 81, residing in Huron, died early Monday morning in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
She was born May 23, 1927, in Bellevue. She was a member of St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Sandusky and Sandusky Eagles post 444. Joan enjoyed
bowling, playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends.

Erie County Selected To Receive Big Read Grant |

Sandusky Library announced that it has received a grant from the
National Endowment for the Arts to host The Big Read in Erie County.
Sandusky Library is one of 208 libraries, municipalities, and arts,
culture, higher education, and science organizations to receive a grant
to host The Big Read from September 2008-June 2009. The Big Read gives
communities the opportunity to come together to read, discuss, and
celebrate one of 23 selections from American and world literature. The
Big Read in Erie County will focus on To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper
Lee. Activities will take place March-April 2009.
