Deadline Nears for BGSU Firelands Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship |

The BGSU Firelands Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa is offering a $1,000
scholarship to a graduate of any high school in Erie, Huron or Ottawa
counties who is a sophomore or beyond in the field of education and is
currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. The
scholarship is awarded on the basis of character, academic ability, and
school and community involvement. Scholarship applicants must intend
to teach after graduation.

EHOVE Firefighter student Kevin Bower (Huron) climbs a 35-ft. Bangor ladder under the watch (left) of Sandusky Firefighter Jim Snyder at the Coles Public Safety Training Center in Milan. As part of certification, students completed the ladder drill four times, climbing seven interior and exterior ladders. Firefighter/EMT students are prepared to take the Ohio Dept. of Public Safety - Level II Firefighter certification exam by the time they graduate, giving them a head start in beginning public safety careers.

BGSU Firelands Announces New Health Care Bachelor's Degree |

Beginning fall semester 2008, BGSU Firelands will offer a new Bachelor
of Applied Health Science degree with Specialization in Respiratory
Care. The Bachelor's Degree specialization in respiratory care is the
first four-year degree to be offered directly through BGSU Firelands.
The degree was developed in collaboration with the BGSU Firelands
Department of Applied Sciences and Bowling Green State University's
College of Health and Human Services. Bachelor's degree coursework
will be available on the Huron campus and in Elyria as part of Lorain
County Community College's University Partnership.

EHOVE Manufacturing Tech student Anthony Lewis ( Norwalk) works with NETWork student Jamie Brady (Huron) on the lathe project making a pen. NETWork students study a variety of non-traditional trades as a part of their curriculum.

Huron City Schools Kindergarten Registration & Screening |

Huron City Schools will conduct Kindergarten Registration and Screening
on April 22, 23 and 24th, at the Huron United Methodist Church, 338
Williams Street, Huron. Any child who will be five by September 30,
2008 is eligible to attend kindergarten.
Parents are asked to accompany their child to the screening and must
bring the child's original birth certificate, social security number,
immunization records, a current electric bill along with one additional
proof of residency, and custody papers (if applicable). These items are
needed to complete the necessary registration papers.
