Postage Stamp Supports Breast Cancer Research |

Let's talk Postage and Cents. I would like to highlight a stamp that
very few people are aware of - the Breast Cancer Stamp. This semi
postal stamp went on sale in 1998. This wonderful stamp, "Fund the
Fight. Find the Cure." First Class Stamp is currently on sale and will
continue through 2011. A portion of the proceeds goes directly to
breast cancer research. To date the postal service has sold 806
million breast cancer stamps. Raising more than $60.1 million for
funding this cause. A sheet of 20 Breast Cancer stamps cost $11.00
with $2.80 going directly toward research. You may buy one for just 55
cents and is good for a 1 ounce first class letter.

In continuation of our celebration of National Occupational Therapy
Month, this article highlights the award-winning Handwriting Without
Tears program which was developed by a pediatric Occupational
Therapist. Article three of this series is written by Susan Wehner,
OTR/L who provides outpatient and home health services for ADVANCED
HEALTH Pediatrics. She has had extensive training in the Handwriting
Without Tears program and is also in the process of completing her
Handwriting Without Tears Level I Certification.

During the month of May, Firelands Regional Medical Center staff will provide free blood pressure screenings at the following locations:
Sandusky Mall Walk every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 - 10 a.m.
Key Bank - Washington Row, Sandusky on Thursday, May 1, from 9 a.m. - noon. At the Sandusky YMCA on Tuesday, May 6, from 8 - 11 a.m. At the Sandusky Wal-Mart Wednesday, May 7, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. In the Firelands Regional Medical Center - South Campus Lobby on Monday, May 12, from 9 - 11 a.m. At the Pharm, Sandusky on Wednesday, May 14, from 9 a.m. - noon. At Drug Mart in Huron on Monday, May 19, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. And at the Stadium Pharmacy, Sandusky on Wednesday, May 21, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

"Dining with Diabetes" Classes Begin May 7 |

Extension Office, presents "Dining with Diabetes." The classes will be
held on the following Wednesdays: May 7, 14, and 21 at 4:30 p.m. in
Firelands Professional Center I in the Firelands Cancer Center
Conference Room, 701 Tyler Street, Sandusky.

Care-A-Van Coming to Huron May 20 |

Firelands Regional Medical Center staff will be on board the Erie County Care-A-Van at various locations throughout the month of May. While on board, staff will be providing Free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings. Lipid Profiles will also be offered for $18.00. PLEASE NOTE: The Lipid Profile requires a 12-hour fasting period.
The following locations will be hosting the Erie County Care-A-Van:
At the Sandusky Wal-Mart Tuesday, May 6 from 8 to 11 a.m. At the Milan Town Hall Tuesday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. At Grace Lutheran Church - Castalia on Thursday, May 8 from 8 to 11 a.m. In the Huron Plaza - Huron on Tuesday, May 20 from 8 to 11 a.m. In Sandusky Plaza Thursday, May 22 from 8 to 11 a.m. At AMVETS - Vermilion on Tuesday, May 27 from 9 a.m. to noon.
