On a frigid April evening, Saturday the 12th, the Huron High Alumni did their zany thing - threw a beach party! 
Despite the seasonally uncomfortable weather, a remarkable number of people attended the event that has funded scholarships for Huron seniors in its sixth year now.

Erie Elites Elect Officers PDF Print E-mail

Kallie Schaeffer will serve as president of the Erie Elites 4-H Club for the coming year. Kallie was elected at the April 6th meeting held at St. Anthony's Hall in Milan.
Other new officers are Vice-President Alyssa Franklin, Secretaries Lauren Teed and Kirsten Hall, Treasurer Emily Schaeffer, News Reporter Holly Richardson, Health leaders Shelby Schaeffer and Rachel Teed, Safety leader Taylor Schnellinger, and Recreation leaders Jacob and Jonah Wikel.
The next meeting of the Erie Elites 4-H Club will be held on Sunday, April 27th at 6:30pm at St. Anthony's Hall in Milan.

Nationally acclaimed Chef Michael Symon, who was recently named Food Network's Iron Chef winner, will be the Celebrity Chef at the 2008 Food and Wine Celebration, to benefit Veggie U, on July 19, 2008 at the Culinary Vegetable Institute, 12304 S.R. 13, Milan, OH 44846.
Symon's pedigree includes being named one of the Ten Best New Chefs in America by Food and Wine Magazine, and hosting over 100 episodes of the Food Network's series, Melting Pot.

Shakespeare Comes to Life at BGSU Firelands PDF Print E-mail

Lovely ladies and gallant gentlemen will grace the stage when BGSU Firelands College Theatre presents Shakespeare's Classic Women '08 on April 17, 18, & 19 at 8:00 p.m. and on April 20 at 2:30 p.m. in McBride Auditorium on the college campus in Huron.
Dr. Frank W. Glann, associate professor of humanities and director of the production, comments that, " . . . the themes and ideas of the comedies, tragedies, and the poems of Shakespeare are today's concerns voiced over 400 years ago, and are especially up-to-date as views on women."

Huron Riverfest Weekend Being Planned PDF Print E-mail

The seventeenth annual Riverfest Weekend in Huron is well underway in its planning stages.  The 2008 Riverfest Committee has made great strides in planning this year's event.  The event is to take place the weekend of July 11, 12 & 13.  This ever popular weekend has been a long standing tradition in Huron.  The key to the success of the Riverfest Weekend is its sponsors.  Without the support of the local business community and individuals alike it is very difficult to book the entertainment and plan accordingly for the weekend of fun.
