Tom Pascoe Appointed To National Navigation Safety Advisory Council PDF Print E-mail

Sandusky resident Tom Pascoe was recently appointed to serve a three-year term on the 21-member national Navigation Safety Advisory Council. His term runs through November 4, 2010, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Watercraft.
The Navigation Safety Advisory Council (NAVSAC) was established by Congress to advise the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard and Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation on matters relating to the prevention of boating-related accidents such as collisions and grounding incidents.

Take a Sailboat Ride and Benefit United Way PDF Print E-mail

Harbor North Marina will host an open house on May 31 and June 1 as part of a campaign called "Discover Sailing!" to promote the sport of sailing and benefit United Way of Erie County.
Harbor North will sponsor sailboat rides, demonstrations, free refreshments and a number of other activities between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to encourage people to learn more about sailing and become involved in the sport.  Proceeds from the sailboat rides (suggested donation is $10 per person) will help benefit the United Way of Erie County.

HYC Marina Spruced Up for Boating Season PDF Print E-mail

Saturday, April 12, brought 18 volunteers to prepare the Huron Yacht Club Marina to receive its seasonal dockers.  The group tackled multiple projects to prepare for the 2008 season.  The docks and patio were power-washed, boards replaced on the docks, and the bubblers pulled and evaluated for repair.  Thanks to all who turned out to help.

Saturday, April 12, brought 18 volunteers to prepare the Huron Yacht Club Marina to receive its seasonal dockers. The following Saturday; April 19th the volunteers were back in full force (with a tad bit better weather) to finish the club clean up.   
The group tackled multiple projects to prepare for the 2008 season.  The docks and patio were power-washed, boards replaced on the docks, and the bubblers pulled and evaluated for repair. Mulch and landscaping tasks were undertaken and the grounds look fantastic.  Thanks to all who turned out to help.

Celebrate Spring At The Catawba Island Boat Show & Wine Fest PDF Print E-mail

Wine fans should be sure to check out this year's Catawba Island Boat Show, the fourth annual show to be held at the picturesque Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, Ohio.  Vineyards from across the northern region of the state will offer samples during a wine tasting on Saturday, May 3. 
The show runs May 2-4 and will feature an array of power and sail boats displayed in the water and on land all weekend.  Admission and parking are free.  The wine tasting will be held through a partnership with the Ohio Wine Producers Association, a group of vineyards, wineries and associates that promote the growing industry in the state.  Wine sample sales will help fund marine college scholarships.
