To wear or not to wear uniforms. That is the question on the minds of
students and parents of Huron City Schools. That was the question on a
survey the Huron Board of Education sent home with students to parents.
The uniform/restrictive dress code would apply to all grades K-12 and
consist of limited choices of colors and styles of clothing. The
results of the survey are "in" and have been tabulated.
The results of the survey were presented at the Huron Board of
Education meeting on May 19 by Mrs. Renee Slocum and are as follows:
RESPONSE RATE:
364 out of 850 surveys were returned, giving a 43% response rate.
53% of Woodlands Elementary students' parents responded.
47% of McCormack Junior High students' parents responded.
38% of Huron High School students' parents responded.

Saturday, 24 May 2008 |
The Huron City School District in collaboration with the BGSU Firelands
was one of two Erie County school districts and one of 42 districts
state wide to receive a "Senior to Sophomores" grant for the 2008 -2009
School Year.
This new program, unveiled in Governor Strickland's State of the State
Address and detailed in Chancellor Fingerhut's 10-Year Plan for Higher
Education, is a dual enrollment program that enables academically
qualified high school seniors to get an early jump on college. Under
the program, students can earn a year's worth of both high school and
college credit at the same time, for free. Qualified Huron High School
seniors who elect to take a full load of courses at the BGSU Firelands
during their senior year will be able to receive their high school
diploma and enter BGSU Firelands as a sophomore.

It's 3 a.m. and you find yourself roused from sleep. Awakened not by a
pressing phone call from an exotic intelligence agency but by a strange
quietness from your basement. Instinctively you sniff the bedroom air .
. . it smells fine but - the temperature is not quite right - Oh, no!
Realization sets in - the furnace!
