School Uniform Survey Responses Are "In", Results Tabulated PDF Print E-mail

To wear or not to wear uniforms. That is the question on the minds of students and parents of Huron City Schools. That was the question on a survey the Huron Board of Education sent home with students to parents. The uniform/restrictive dress code would apply to all grades K-12 and consist of limited choices of colors and styles of clothing. The results of the survey are "in" and have been tabulated.

The results of the survey were presented at the Huron Board of Education meeting on May 19 by Mrs. Renee Slocum and are as follows:

RESPONSE RATE:

364 out of 850 surveys were returned, giving a 43% response rate.
53% of Woodlands Elementary students' parents responded.
47% of McCormack Junior High students' parents responded.
38% of Huron High School students' parents responded.

Huron City Schools And BGSU Receive Grant PDF Print E-mail

The Huron City School District in collaboration with the BGSU Firelands was one of two Erie County school districts and one of 42 districts state wide to receive a "Senior to Sophomores" grant for the 2008 -2009 School Year.
This new program, unveiled in Governor Strickland's State of the State Address and detailed in Chancellor Fingerhut's 10-Year Plan for Higher Education, is a dual enrollment program that enables academically qualified high school seniors to get an early jump on college.  Under the program, students can earn a year's worth of both high school and college credit at the same time, for free.  Qualified Huron High School seniors who elect to take a full load of courses at the BGSU Firelands during their senior year will be able to receive their high school diploma and enter BGSU Firelands as a sophomore.
