On March 12, 2008, Dominic W. Kidwell Sr. passed away at the VA Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Dominic was born in Huron in 1931 to Walter and Angeline Kidwell. He
graduated from Huron High School and spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy as
an aviation electrician, retiring in 1978 as a Chief Petty Officer. He
was an electrician for ship rebuilding in St. Augustine and
Jacksonville, FL., a vocational school teacher in Waukegan IL, and then
worked for American Airlines on their satellite bases. He worked in the
shipyards in Pascagoula until he retired from Civil Service.

Couple Celebrates 50th Wedding Anniversary |

Bill and Ann (White) Hammond will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 19. The couple were married April 19, 1958 in Huron.
They are the parents of Roch (Tammy) Hammond, Milan; Mark (Sherri) Hammond, Tennessee; Joe Hammond, Huron; Liz Wargo, Florida; Anna (Ken) Bloomberg, Bellevue; Mathew (Julie) Hammond, Huron; and Nathan (Beth) Hammond, Huron. They have 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A party given by their family was held on March 30.
Mr. Hammond is a retired carpenter, and Mrs. Hammond is a homemaker.

40th Wedding Surprise Celebration For Couple |

Robert and Ilian (Gil) Hammond celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on March 23. The couple were married March 23, 1968 in Caracas, Venezuela where Mrs. Hammond is originally from.
They are the parents of Ingrid (Troy) Ritzler (Huron), and Dr. Robert C. (Tammy) Hammond, Amherst. They have five grandchildren.
A surprise party was given by their daughter where family and friends attended.
Mr. Hammond is a retired Laborer from Wilkes & Co. Mrs. Hammond works for Huron City Schools as a preschool aide.
A trip to Las Vegas is planned for later this summer.

Marie H. (Hyde) Rea, 87, of Huron, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born July 26, 1920 in Bennington, VT. and was a resident of
Huron for the past four years coming from Brooksville, Fla. and
Syracuse, N.Y. She worked as a nursing supervisor for the Onondaga
County Home and Hospital in Syracuse for 18 years, retiring in 1978.
Prior to that she worked as a night supervisor at Crouse-Irving
Memorial Hospital in Syracuse. She was a member of Zion Lutheran
Church, Huron, and enjoyed sewing, reading, music and singing.
