EHOVE Cosmetology instructor Lynn Keefer collects monopoly money from student Kayla Morris, Western Reserve , at the auction during the last day of class May 29. Students spent their last hours prior to summer break bidding at an auction featuring donated cosmetics and other salon items, paying with a "salary" of Monopoly money for work performed in class throughout the year. Over 1,500 awards and certificates for achievement in academics,
service and citizenship were presented at McCormick Middle School
during their annual recognition assemblies on Wednesday, May 28, 2008.
The Most Outstanding Student Award was selected from a field of
well-qualified eighth grade candidates. The following students were
nominated for the award: Angela Barbour, Joshua Battiste, Alyssa
Franklin, Eileen Moriarty, Dustin Myles, Lynsie Schwerer, Katlyn
Sommer, Ikki Tanaka, Emily Waldrop and Emily Wiseman. The Most
Outstanding Student Award was presented to Emily Waldrop.

McCormick 7th and 8th Grade Bands Ended Year with a Bang |

The McCormick 7th and 8th grade bands ended this school year with a
"bang" in more than one grand finale when they received "excellent" and
"superior" ratings at two contest performances.
The 7th grade band traveled to the "Music in the Parks" festival in
Loveland, Ohio on May 9. There they performed "Kamehameha," a lively
song named after a historical Hawaiian tribe chief warrior by William
Owens and "As the Eagle Flies," a heralding American tribute by Jim
Swearingen. The band spent the next day at King's Island Amusement Park
where roller coaster rides ended with an awards ceremony in which the
band received a rating of "excellent."

On May 27, 2008, the Huron High School Band celebrated another
successful season with their annual awards banquet at Sawmill Creek
Lodge. Speakers included Huron School Superintendent Fred Fox, Huron
Football Coach Tony Lagando, Band President Nathan Luzader, followed by
Kevin Bower who gave the Invocation prayer before dinner.

Have you always wanted to be a professional cook but don't have the
time or money to attend a culinary college? Perhaps you're already
working in the food service industry and want to advance. Or maybe
you've dreamed about running your own restaurant. Then a culinary
apprenticeship is for you! EHOVE Adult Education is offering two
Apprenticeship classes: one starting July 7 and the next starting in
January 2009.
