Now that spring is upon us-it's time to act on those New Year's Resolutions.  Losing weight and getting fit are usually on everybody's lists-why not share the agony and joy with friends and neighbors?

Monday, April 7th is the kick-off date for the 2008 Look Who's Walking fitness program, sponsored by Erie MetroParks, City of Sandusky Recreation Division, and the Erie County Health Department.  Like last year, the walks alternate every other Monday at 6:30 pm, April 7th through August 25th. Some new locations have been added this year, along with some very special guest leaders.  Erie County Health Commissioner Peter Schade will lead the Kick-off walk at Osborn Park.  Other guest leaders include Dennis Murray, Jr., Sandusky City Commission President; Robert Bickley, Mayor of Milan; Stephen Dice, Erie MetroParks Director-Secretary; Marilyn Shearer, Mayor of Huron; Faith Denslow, Sandusky City Schools Board of Education; Tim Riesterer, Margaretta Township Trustee; Ed Enderle, Huron Township Trustee; Kelly Moon, Mayor of Berlin Heights; Ray (Skip) Halliwell, Chairman, Florence Township Trustees; and Kurt Landefeld, Erie MetroParks
Commissioner.

Also new this year are four free Stress-buster Sample Classes, held in the Frost Center, Osborn Park at 6:30 pm on the following off-Mondays . Yoga, instructed by Deb Sutter on May 12: Tai Chi instructed by Dennis White, June 9; Belly Dancing instructed by Deb Sutter, June 23 and Strength Training with Aerobics, instructed by Monica Studans, August 4.

There will also be the opportunity to join citizens across the state in walking a collective million miles by taking part in the Wednesday, May 21, Healthy Ohioans Fitness Walk at Noon.  You can choose Osborn Park, the Washington Park Gazebo or the Erie County Health Department to walk your mile.  And by participating in seven of the eleven walks, your name will be entered into a drawing for prizes after the August 25th walk. So, dust off your sport shoes and get ready to get fit in the great outdoors. Contact Erie MetroParks at 419-625-7783, Ext. 221 or go online at www.eriemetroparks.org for a Look Who's Walking brochure.
