Honor role students, Jenna Witter and Megan Cammalleri came up with a fund raising idea to help the Humane Society. Working under the auspices of Ms. LaCrosse's Ecology Club, the girls made and sold beaded bracelets and necklaces to fellow fifth-grade students during lunch breaks.
McCormick school principal, "Mr. Doughty, made this opportunity possible," says Christina Witter, Jenna's mother. All materials and supplies were donated and over $210 in cash and pet supplies were presented to the Erie County Humane Society on April 19.
"We were thrilled with the support from these young ladies," said society Director Amy Porter. "We receive no county or state funding - gifts, donations, and fund raisers are the only means of support for the Humane Society of Erie County."
Jenna is the daughter of Christina and Ron Witter. Megan is the daughter of Amy and Chris Cammalleri.
