Tigers Finish SBC with Win over Clyde

Tigers Finish SBC with Win over ClydeHuron had to wait an extra day to get in their final SBC road trip of the year, thanks to the weather. But it was worth it as the Tigers took down Clyde by a score of 58-53. With the final win, Huron finished 8-6 in the SBC, landing them in third place. Despite the unusual time for a boys’ game, there was still a nice crowd on hand in Clyde to watch. They witnessed a good battle between two pretty evenly matched teams. Senior big man Jon Hicks received a start for the Tigers as a reward for all of his hard work this year for Coach James. He made some nice plays inside early on. Guard Brian Bollenbacher opened the scoring for the visitors with a three-pointer that started his team on a 9-3 run. It was capped off by two inside buckets by center Brandon Poorman, who would lead Huron with 12 points on the afternoon.

Tigers Bite Truckers Early, Win 49-36

Tigers Bite Truckers Early, Win 49-36Just one night after a disappointing loss to the undefeated Port Clinton Redskins in front of a large home crowd, the Tigers traveled to Norwalk to take on the Truckers. But Huron took out their frustrations from the previous evening on Norwalk to spoil the Truckers’ senior night celebration.

Same Start, Different Ending Lady Tigers Knock off Norwalk, 55-47

Same Start, Different Ending Lady Tigers Knock off Norwalk, 55-47With 3:51 left in the first quarter, Huron coach Ty Ray called his first timeout of the game. It seemed like the same old story: Huron’s opponent had just completed a 10-0 run and the visiting Truckers looked to be in complete control of the game. It was Senior Night after all; couldn’t the Tigers put together an effort worthy of their two captains (Devon Grendow and Melissa Moberg)? Junior Devon Koenig came out of the break and hit two buckets while Grendow hit a field goal of her own. Norwalk was comfortably in the lead, 20-10, at the end of the first quarter. While the Tigers played a zone, the Truckers seemed to have too much inside for the home team to handle. Norwalk hit the opening basket of the second period to take what would be their biggest lead of the game (12 points). But the visitors would only score one more time in the half (a lay-up with :50 left) while Huron would drop in 15 points of their own.
